The Mt Pilchuck Ski Club was given permission by the State Parks Dept. to create a ski area for winter use.  In 1953 they closed the area that had been created due to lack of snow.  A new area was created in 1956 at Cedar Flats (See Mt. Pilchuck Ski Area).
