Gold Hills and American River Area - (1949 Sportsman Guide)

Location: Gold Hills area located 6 miles east of Chinook Pass summit and American River Ski Bowl 19 miles east of summit on US No. 410,
Washington No. 5.  Bulk of skiers first stop at American River area. If the snow conditions are not good they proceed on to Gold Hills area.
Elevation at Gold Hills 4,000'. Elevation at American River 3,000'. Transportation by private car only.

Skiing Conditions: Because of east slope snow conditions good in Gold Hills. Usually more dependable then  American River. Ski terrain at
American River is bowl shaped, diversified for beginners and experts alike. One tow at American River.
