Notes 2015/2016 season

First Measurable Snow:
Last Measurable Snow:
Season Total:

March 27, 2016

Hyak came to an end today for lift service.  Yesterday was a great sunshine day followed up today with snow most of the day (wet snow).  Still good coverage everywhere except for creek areas down low.  Central is still open for a couple more weeks then Alpental most likely through May 5.  Snow is still falling and as I write this chains are required on Snoqualmie.

March 12, 2016

Another great Saturday of riding (spring conditions) after last weekends excellent Saturday.  We've been getting a little snow here and there but temps don't get too cold so the slow melt is still ongoing. This season is a bit below normal so far but the snow should hold up for the normal spring season. I've heard Hyak will run maybe 2 more weekends?

March 2, 2016

Almost a foot of new snow this week, what a surprise?  Temps are still warm, in the 30's mostly and snow fell Sun, Mon and again Tue but rain also fell.  I'd guess areas will start closing soon since we are now into March and not much snow has fallen the past month.

After a week of rain and warm temps some snow has returned.  Lost 6" to a foot of snow but still coverage is good.

Feb 14, 2016

Been a busy year for me and I've neglected to keep this page up.  Time to catch up and move forward....

After a very snowy Dec (50% above normal) we had a below normal Jan (around 20% below normal) which brings us to a very normal snowpack for this time of year.  This weekend we've run into our first real warm up, rain pattern and it looks like it will be with us at least a week or more.  Yesterday was a nice, spring type day with snow on the upper 2/3 of the mtn and light rain at the base.  My snowpack measuring stick reads around 5' and I'd expect us to lose another foot by next weekend if this warm temps and rain continue.

Start of the 2015-16 season kicked off at West today.   A couple feet of snow and they are off and running.  More snow coming this weekend and all next week.
